Acne is a condition that many people suffer. These occur due to hormonal imbalances. At these times the skin produces more oil. This oil gets clogged in the skin pores and aids the growth of bacteria. This is called acne. This occurs mainly in teenagers and women going through menopause.
Treating acne is in itself a difficult thing. However, many treatments are readily available, and they work depending on the skin type. What is more distressing, are the scars that the acne leave behind on your face. These are caused when the acne has seriously affected your skin. These scars appear in red or brown color and have a pitted surface.
There are several natural methods of getting rid of acne scars which can be tried at home. These are safe methods but will take time working on the skin.
- Aloe Vera
It is a natural cure for scars due to its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. You can cut open a leaf, take the gel and apply on the scars and massage in a circular fashion. Leave this on your face for around 30 minutes. Then you can wash it off. Do this two or three times a day. This may not be effective on scars which are old.
Lemon is a natural bleach. It will lighten the scars. It will also remove the dead cells and promote the growth of new cells. You can apply the lemon juice on to your scars. You can use your fingers or a cotton ball. Leave it on your skin for around 10 minutes. Wash it off with cold water. Repeat this process a couple of times a day. The Vitamin C in lemon juice helps in rebuilding collagen. You should take care not to step out in the sun when the juice is on your face.
- Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has an acidic property. This helps to lighten the pigmentation on the scars thus making them less visible. It also helps to clear dead cells and improves the production of collagen. You need to mix an equal quantity of water and raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Apply the mixture on to the scars using a cotton ball. Leave the mixture on your face for five minutes. You can then wash it off using water. You can do this process once daily.
All the above processes are slow and must be done religiously on a daily basis.
